1  Homestead Network / Homestead Talk / Re: I was losing the Flea battle.... on: May 15, 2013, 07:18:41 PM
I'm curious to know how it works also.  I had such a problem w/ fleas in TX.  Here, now that spring and summer are approaching, I know we'll have some issues, but not as bad as before.

When we first moved our chicks out to the coop, we had to chase and catch them to put them inside at night.  After a few days, they got the idea.  Unfortunately, catching them was quite an ordeal. Wink

8  Homestead Network / NEWS of Concern! / Re: Heirloom seeds criminalized! on: May 10, 2013, 08:08:17 AM
Heirloom seeds, among other things, has become big business as of late.

But in the big scheme of things, it's still such a minute industry.  WHY? Is Monsanto really pushing that hard to take over all seeds?  Why?  Do they see heirloom seeds as a huge growing threat down the road?  The vast majority of society knows very little/nothing about who Monsanto is or what their foods do.  Does Monsanto see food labeling in the future and realize that if they don't get rid of all seeds now that they're doomed in the long run?

We know they drank a lot of wine in that era.  Water was not clean or purified.  And the Bible tells us that Jesus turned water into wine that the wedding of Cana (this is a big point as to why I don't understand how baptists can say drinking is a sin).

As one who has suffered immensely from rejecting advice, I'm open to giving it,

You made me laugh Thox!

I agree w/ you incogsneako - we live in such a consumeristic world, where everyone wants to keep up with the Jonses.  And we aren't immune to it.  My husband is an electronics junkie.  But, there are limits to our consumerism that would turn others heads.  We both own (no bank loan on these!) vehicles that are more than 10 years old, we have a huge garden and rabbits for meat.  We have chickens for eggs and meat.  I find that our area lends itself nicely to our way of life, much more than the area we lived in TX.  It's easy for us to find friends who are on the same wavelength as we are.  Smiley
