Mine is,still in the building stage. Oak saw wood walls and poplar 2X4 trusses. I used oak and poplar for the gusset plates. Attached the gusset plates with liquid nails and exterior screws. Pressure treated runners from end to end to keep the bottom of the trusses off the ground.Making it 16 ft. Long this year. Next year when we move it we'll extend to 24 ft. Then we'll also paint it white with exterior oil based paint. Putting winter duck and chicken runs under the tables. That way egg collection and flock maintenance is easier than the summer chicken tractors. Chickens and ducks will help heat. Also will store the blue 50 gal. barrels we store feed in. On the north side to double as a heat sink.
This spring don't know how much use before last frost we'll get. Next year I'll supply all the started plants for the family. Also will be selling tomatoes, peppers, artichokes, and anything else that will sell in 4" pots. 14" clay pots will have herb gardens and pizza gardens in them.

We use the Vegetable Gardeners Bible. WORD method seems to be similar. We grow in 4'X22' beds. All beds are 4' wide lengths don't exceed 20' or so. We also use goat yard compost. Manure and urine soaked mixed grass hay leftovers.

We like our freedom rangers. We had Dominickers not impressed. We have Delawares also not impressed. The freedom rangers act like chickens, are excellent foragers, and grow faster than any other pure breed chicken. The Dominickers crossed with the freedom rangers make for a nice fast growing roaster. So we may keep different breeds of roosters. As trial breeders to cross with the freedom rangers.

Some around here prep. Some don't the ones that don't have heard it from their neighbors before we moved up here. We prep because of loss of power, job, snowed in, .1918 there was a flu pandemic. We also prep for a certain self assured feeling and its biblical. Most people don't like God but don't fault his advice. I only get out the soap box for those that seem interested. My brother in law grew a garden ONCE. I pray he isn't a lost cause. most are including my best friend.

We use wood. If the power goes out wood still burns. Pellet stoves, have multiple motors. So no electricity no pellet heat. Our wood stove is a plain old Tractor Supply stove from US Stove. Works great so far.
I don't use a power splitter. Mine is a 8 lb. Steel head on a sledge hammer handle. We also have lots of trees. So no going too far for wood.

Starting on my quanza hut style Johnny Max green house tomorrow. Taking a foot off the 20 foot length for a 6" overhang on each end. Installing an old storm door. Later this season solar fan system and vent on other end. Putting duck run under work tables on one side and chicken run on other side. Plastic for now and clear roofing asma (as soon as money allows).

I make laundry soap for my wife. We make it out of the double lavender bars. I'm really glad I know how to make home made bar soaps. They are so useful for a real variety of stuff. The lavender chamomile goats milk soap is only 1/2 a gallon away. I need this other goat to kid. Or a less thirsty son. He and the bottle baby goat are hogs!

Glass top is very convenient. I'd still rather have propane stove/oven. Along with the 300 of 500 gallon tank . I would also install a wall mount propane heater. Easier to bit propane in a bad economy when electric goes thru the roof or shuts down all together.

We have a steel wok. Not stainless but steel it rusted a little so we treat it like case iron when cleaning. Now we have the glass top stove my wife allways wanted. so the wok is for outside use now.
