Walmart downsizing to smaller stores!

It would be so funny and ironic if the company that destroyed so many "Mom and Pop" businesses and was the "Darling" of the Global World Trade Movement and the NWO went bankrupt as a example of the failures of the WTO, NAFTA, NWO.....etc

I might even think about opening a Bait and Tackle, or Garden Store if they go under!

I grew up around the Sam Walton family in Bentonville, AR. The Walmart of today would make Ole Sam roll over in his grave!

Mr Walton made it a habit to meet and shake the hands of every employee his company hired when he was alive, he always told them it was the employees who made it the company that it was while he owned it!

Beerdaddy,

That's some keen insight you got there.  As for the bait shop you should be good to go!  (have you *seen* the bait they have?)  3 boxes of night crawlers in a wine cooler does not a bait shop make! Cry

I think we're starting to see a trend that I have suspected would happen with higher prices (especially oil prices).

Walmart probably wouldn't exist today if not for cheap Chinese (government subsidized) imports.  It's incredibly inefficient.  Ship raw materials from all over the world to China to make into products and ship all the way accross the globe?  With sustained high oil prices this has a forseeable end.  Walmart *knows* this.

Yes, it *is* a good time to get back in the game and start competing with China simply because of this.  When I started my furniture business (still a one man shop) I knew I was competing with cheap Chinese &#(!  But things are changing and people are now realizing they don't like cheap furniture that falls apart before their eyes.

I'll give credit to the Lord for keeping me with business and I'm amazed that even in these difficult times I've never been busier.

Yea, the worms from WallyWorld act like they have been sprinkled with tranqualizers, i remember the worms from the "Old Bait Stores" you had to use both hands just to hang on to them!

No sense of humor in the employees either, the other day my wife dragged me there and when i passed the Pet Fish Department, i asked the employee standing by the fish tank   "I did not know Walmart had fresh sushi?", the cold look from the WallyWorld person made me think of a Lost Soul lacking any sense of there Humanity.

Could have just been a bad day, but it made me wish for a Crucifix for protection!

The problem with the mom and pop stores are they want an arm and leg just to buy a cricket.  And they are usually run By Indians now.  Not American Indians either!  So I'll admit Walmart still gets my buisness!.  Just can't pay twice as much and worry about supporting terrorists too?   Cool Shocked
