View across our 1.7 acre pond. We took the easy way and found property with surface water existing. Kudos to you JM for punching your own new hole. Ours is down about 3 ft from the high water mark right now. We have a little 14' flat bottom and we are going to float around and stick it for depth. It has lots, I mean lots of frogs, a few turtles, and we have noted occasional sizable slashes of fish hitting the surface, cool. Brainstorming to have this pond be in my Aquaponics system. Here's to us both getting lots of rain this winter or boring a deep hole.

Thanks Ggirl. When I said incorporate the pond, actually I was thinking of just putting it in the plumbing loop. Pump out of ponds into contained system and then gravity drain back to the pond. Would be the ultimate living system that would allow for easy harvest of a captive crop.

Nice property. You'll be able to do so much with that pond and the surrounding land.
But I looked in here to see Bigfoot.

Rains up here in NTX last week wetten'd the HS and Ribbit Reservoir to the tune of about an inch and a half. There used to be a four inch diameter branch partially submerged that we spotted four turtles sunning. That branch is now completely submerged. Feeling the hope here.

Wow tomdlind! Now that is a nice pond.
I am going to put tilapia in mine in the Spring to eat down any algae or plants, then try to figure out how to harvest them in the fall. Maybe a gill-net will work.

Hey Johnny, where are you going to get your Tilapia? Can you buy them on-line somewhere? I am taking a sample of my pond water down to BU water labs this week to have a full water chemistry done on it. Make sure that there are no harmful bugs or chemicals in it. I thought of just stocking the pond and letting them go wild, but yeah, harvesting could be a challenge. Maybe a large submersible cage, yeah, that's the ticket. Got a friend up here that fishes on Lake Ray Hubbard quit a bit and thought maybe I'd get some fish from him and toss them in and see how they do. Y'all have a Happy Thanksgiving.
