Ever used one? I have for the past few years and I really really appreciate having this tool to help me sprout my seeds. It's like having an indoor greenhouse. Y'all might do something like this (but a little different), so forgive me if this is primitive. But for those who don't and want an easy project to help them sprout seeds a few months before spring, this is your project.

Here's a link and detailed directions to the one I made from a cardboard box:

Next, line the box and the lid with aluminum foil. There are a few ways to do this---tape, spray adhesive (not sure whether it would be good to have the fumes in the box, though), or tacky glue. I used tape for now.

And here is what it looks like all put together. Plug in, fill with plants and you're good to go!

I use our old plastic berry/produce boxes to plant in because they have see-through tops which enables the plants to still get the light, however, for sprouting seeds, light isn't really necessary the way heat is. However, once they sprout, they do need the light, a need which makes the plastic produce boxes my container of choice. Make sure to keep the soil somewhat damp because it gets hot in there and can dry the soil pretty quickly.
