What? No Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake

Guess what. My mom made this when we were kids. (We were about as far from homesteader/self sufficient as possible). But my mom liked food experiments/strange ideas. She's where I learned about the tomato soup in spice cake.

Anyway, you don't taste the sauer (sour) at all. And the cabbage is texturally kind of like coconut. It's good.

Well, last I ate it, I think I was 9, and I don't think there's any such thing as bad cake at 9. But I remember it as good.
