While doing research for a member's cricket question I came across the idea of raising cockroaches as a source of protein for fish rabbits or poultry.

They'll eat just about anything. Whata yall think?

A Roach ranch ?

Well, put a Roach Motel on your land and you might turn a profit on your homestead.

just make sure you keep a tight lid on their cages, otherwise you may be calling pest control.  Should be easy enough to find and raise them.

I'm having the same thought as when I considered raising black widows for silk.
"this will not end well"

Fortunately I don't have the guts to do either one just yet.
But I did want to get the idea out there.

I tried raising maggots for my birds but couldn't get past the smell no matter how far from the house I'd put 'em. Was thinking meal worms would be the easiest solution. Check out YouTube for that.

I was thinking about the meal worms.  Those sound pretty easy to do.

I was talking with my grandmother yesterday, she asked a few questions about my worm farm, then told me my aunt in california is raising cockroaches to feed to my cousins lizard.

Here's a thought - intead of raising anything, why not just catch 'em.  A neighbor uses a jar with small holes in the cap.  Puts some syrup or honey in the bottom and in a day or two, the jar is full of flies.  He just throws them away, but you could aways feed them to the birds.

Found this example for ya.
